NZ Football seeks more seats for World Cup qualifier

New Zealand Football hopes to add 400 to 500 more seats for a World Cup qualifying match between Bahrain and the All Whites by putting temporary stands in the tunnels of the stadium.

FIFA has dashed plans to add 3000 temporary pitch-side seats at the Westpac stadium in Wellington for the second leg play-off on 14 November. The match is sold-out.

New Zealand Football chief executive Michael Glading says the sport's governing body has strict rules for pitch-side seating.

However, he says some tickets set aside for Bahraini supporters may become available for New Zealand fans just before the game.
