New Zealand Government moves towards a single economic market with Australia have drawn criticism for not consulting Maori.
Commerce Minister Simon Power has revealed his portfolio will next year treat the progression of a single economic market for the two countries as the top priority.
Environmental studies lecturer at Victoria University, Jessica Hutchings, says it's clear that indigenous voices are not being heard.
She says Maori need to know where the treaty relationship fits in with such a change.
Dr Hutchings says there appears to be no meaningful dialogue in Australia with Aboriginal people.
