The owners of Pizza Hut say two employees were attacked after closing a store on Auckland's North Shore early on Saturday morning.
In a statement, Restaurant Brands says the workers left the Birkenhead store at about 1am, and were standing on the street talking.
They say the pair heard a car window breaking and an alarm going off, and were then attacked by three men with bottles.
Both of them were taken to hospital. One has now been discharged and is recovering from cuts and swelling to the face.
The CEO of Restaurant Brands, Russel Creedy, says the company is extremely upset the pair were caught up in such a brutal and unprovoked attack.
