A float plane has been forced to ditch over Lake Taupo after blowing its engine.
An eyewitness says the sightseeing aircraft dropped height rapidly and spluttered blue and white smoke on Sunday.
The small plane with one pilot and three passengers on board landed safely on the water in Tokaanu Bay.
No one was injured and police have informed Civil Aviation Authority of the incident.
