A sculpture of Environment Minister Nick Smith made from cow dung has sold on Trade Me for more than $3000.
Made by the artist Sam Mahon, it was described on the online auction site as "light and hollow and highly polished".
It was won by a bidder called "Boxerlady" from Palmerston North, selling at 9.30pm on Friday for $3080.
The artist said he made the head to highlight his fight for cleaner waterways.
Mr Smith has made light of the sculpture, calling it crap art.
