A Palmerston North woman has been arrested and charged with importing the Class C controlled drug BZP.

Customs officials seized two packages of the drug, thought to have come from China, at Auckland International airport in August and October.

The police say the packages of BZP, an ingredient in some party pills, had a combined weight of six kilograms and a street value of about $180,000.

A 38-year-old woman will appear in the District Court in Palmerston North on Wednesday.
