New Zealand have beaten Malaysia 4-2 at the World Cup men's hockey qualifying tournament in Invercargill on Tuesday.
The unbeaten Black Sticks led 2-1 at half-time.
Earlier China remained unbeaten with a 2-1 win over Wales and Scotland beat Austria 3-2.
With Wednesday a rest day, New Zealand will play China on Thursday.
