An orange juice company has been fined more than $50,000 after pleading guilty to six charges of breaching the Fair Trading Act.

Auckland District Court also ordered Brownlie Brothers, trading as Simply Squeezed, to pay more than $6,500 in court costs.

All six charges relate to a television advertising campaign that ran from March to May last year for Simply Squeezed Chilled Orange Juice.

The advertising campaign gave the impression the product was predominantly made from New Zealand squeezed orange juice.

However, at the time of the campaign, just over 50% of the product was from squeezed New Zealand juice and the remainder was imported reconstituted juice made from concentrate.
