ACC sensitive claims process criticised

Critics of the Accident Compensation Corporation's new sensitive claims process are disputing that its introduction has been smooth.

When the guidelines came into force last month, it was claimed victims of sexual abuse would find it more difficult to get treatment.

ACC senior medical advisor Dr Peter Jansen has written to providers saying ACC is pleased the transition has gone smoothly.

However some psychotherapists say there have been delays and other problems getting clear answers out of ACC, and at times they have received contradictory replies about whether treatment will be covered.

ACC says the new system is working well and is delivering a faster service to clients.
