A Far North woman banned from making jam for charity has been given the all-clear to get back on the job.
Northland Health inspectors told the Kerikeri hospice shop to stop selling jams made by Gloria Crawford, 68, because she didn't have a registered kitchen.
The Far North District Council and the Food Safety Authority have found a way around regulations, which they say are absurd.
Officials have helped Ms Crawford develop a Food Safety Programme that allows her to go on making her jams and pickles at home.
The authority says under the new Food Bill, low-risk charity operations such as Mrs Crawford's will soon become exempt from regulation.
The Mid North Hospice says Gloria Crawford's jams are a valuable revenue stream and it's looking forward to having them back on the shelves.
