This just in: Kiwis bad-mannered about car-parking

Many New Zealanders are dishonest and rude when it comes to car-parking, according to a new survey.

AA Insurance surveyed more than 3700 drivers between the ages of 18 and 65. More than half said they had watched someone steal a park they themselves were obviously waiting for.

Seventy-three percent had returned to their parked car to find it damaged and 91% of those said the offender had not left their contact details.

But AA Insurance deputy general manager Martin Fox says only 15% of respondents were prepared to admit that they themselves would think twice before leaving a note.

Mr Fox says his company gets more than 250 claims a month over damage to parked cars and the average cost for repairs is $1480.
