Waikato miners accept Solid Energy offer

7:41 pm on 30 November 2009

Striking coal miners in Waikato are to return to work.

The 400 miners at Solid Energy's Huntly East underground mine and the Rotowaro open cast mine have voted to accept the company's latest offer.

They went on strike at the end of October but returned briefly to work for two days to allow negotiations to restart.

Miners at the Stockton Mine on the West Coast, who have been striking in support of their Waikato colleagues, are due to meet on Monday night to vote on whether to continue their action.
