Amateur golfer Cathryn Bristow has finished tied for 22nd in an LPGA qualifying tournament to become just the third New Zealander to gain a place on the tour.

Bristow missed out on the top 20 by one shot and will still need to qualify for the bigger tournaments on the circuit next year.

But the 25 year-old says she is excited to make it to the LPGA circuit with the top international players.

Bristow says she would like to make her professional debut at the 2010 Women's New Zealand Open near Christchurch in February.
