The Fire Service is investigating four suspicious fires in the lower North Island on Monday.
Investigators are at the scene of a blaze at Massey University's campus in Wellington.
A spokesperson says a fire broke out sometime after 4am behind the old museum building.
Crews were also called to fires at a vacant state house in Porirua, a garage at Sanson and an unoccupied house in Levin.
All four fires are being treated as suspicious.
In the South Island, a person was taken to hospital following a fire in Kaiapoi, near Christchurch.
The Fire Service says it was called to a property in Sims Road address about 10.30pm on Sunday following reports of an explosion.
Firefighters found a small shed alight and one person injured.
