The Waitangi National Trust is looking at building a museum on the Treaty grounds.

New chairperson Pita Paraone told Waatea News the trust has just completed re-roofing the Treaty House, restoring the waka taua Ngatokimatawhaorua and building extensions to the visitors' centre.

He says the trust is concerned about other taonga and a number of items associated with the Treaty that need to be stored in a purpose-built building.
