Flight Centre warned over false advertising

The travel agency Flight Centre has been warned by the Commerce Commission for false advertising.

Flight Centre recently claimed it would beat any web, airline or competitor's quote, or fly a person for free.

Small print revealed the offer applied only if competitors' travel details were submitted to Flight Centre in writing prior to booking.

The booking also had to exactly match the product and time of travel.

The Commerce Commission ruled that those details changed the meaning of the headline offer.

Flight Centre was also warned about advertising fares that were not subsequently available, and failing to disclose additional costs.
