The ASB Trust is to commit $10 million to Maori and Pasifika education.

Waatea News reports seven projects in Auckland and Northland will receive funding over the next five years.

Dr Manuka Henare from Auckland University's business school says the panel's aim was to choose organisations which focus on collective learning.

They include a new leadership academy which is to open in Whangarei next year.

The programme will be run by He Puna Marama Trust and will draw on various models including the military, Maori boarding schools and Maori trade training.
