Arrested man linked to suspect in police shooting

Police say a man arrested in relation to the shooting of a police officer in South Auckland, was at the same address as another man already charged in connection with the incident.

Constable Jeremy Snow, 28, was shot three times in Buckingham Crescent in Papatoetoe just after 4am on Tuesday. He is in Middlemore hospital.

Darren Court, 43 was arrested on Thursday in West Auckland after he was named by the police as being wanted in connection with the shooting.

He has since been charged in relation to two outstanding warrants concerning car theft and violence.

Detective Inspector Mark Gutry says it's too early to say what involvement he had in the shooting.

Another man, aged 28, who has name suppression, was arrested on Wednesday and has since been charged with attempted murder.

Detective Inspector Gutry says the two are known to each other.
