The cost of a camping holiday may have to rise to counter increases in ACC levies.

The Holiday Parks Association says it is disappointed the increases were not introduced in steps, as proposed by the tourism industry.

Chief executive Fergus Brown says camping ground prices are set years in advance.

Recent research shows the sector generates $623 million per year.
