Rhythm and Vines kicks off with Moby centre-stage

11:31 am on 29 December 2009

The seventh annual Rhythm and Vines music festival gets underway in Gisborne on Tuesday, with dance-electronica star Moby attracting the star billing.

About 18,000 people are expected to attend the three day festival at the Waiohika Winery, which culminates in a concert on New Year's Eve.

The festival's founder, Hamish Pinkham, says the American star is looking forward to playing in New Zealand once more, and is set to kick off the event in some style.

He says fans will also be able to catch the likes of UK group the Editors, Australian favourites Empire of the Sun, as well as a strong local contingent including Kora and Sola Rosa.
