Bus driver's complaint not upheld

8:19 pm on 1 July 2013

The actions of a bus company that disciplined a Tauranga driver after she refused to let a boy pay a $1.80 fare with a $20 note have been upheld by the Employment Relations Authority.

Go Bus issued a warning to Kay Pridmore after an incident in October last year when she told the boy that she could not change the note and he needed to get change.

Later that day, Ms Pridmore was abusive while discussing the incident with her superviser on the phone.

A disciplinary hearing was held at the end of October and Go Bus gave Ms Pridmore a written warning.

Ms Pridmore lodged a complaint with the authority, claiming that she was unjustifiably disadvantaged by the warning and by Go Bus' refusal to investigate a complaint she had made against her superviser.

The authority found she was not unjustifiably disavantaged in either of the issues raised.
