The man at the centre of a five-hour armed siege at an Auckland bank can now be named.
Sean Clifford Nicholas, 41, is charged with unlawfully possessing an air pistol, presenting a gun at another person and detaining a person following the incident at the Penrose branch of Westpac on 18 June this year.
His lawyer Jo Scott made no application to continue interim name suppression when he appeared via audio-visual link in the Auckland District Court on Wednesday.
Mr Nicholas will remain in custody until his next court appearance in September.
