Fairfax moving some production work to NZ

12:25 pm on 8 August 2013

Fairfax is moving the editorial production of some sections of its high-profile Australlian newspapers to New Zealand.

The company has decided not to renew its contract with Australian company Pagemasters, which has edited and produced popular lift-out and specialist sections in The Age, the Sydney Morning Herald and the Canberra Times since 2008.

The features content will now be produced and edited by New Zealand subsidiary Fairfax Editorial Services, the ABC reports.

Fairfax has not commented on the move but Pagemasters says it is bitterly disappointed by the decision.

It will continue to subedit the daily news content of the papers.

A Fairfax restructure announced last year sparked the recent relocation of editing services to New Zealand.
