McGrath appeal against extradition delayed

An appeal by a former Catholic brother against a decision to extradite him to Australia to face hundreds of child sex abuse charges has been delayed.

Bernard Kevin McGrath's appeal was scheduled to be heard at the High Court in Christchurch on 15 August, but has been adjourned until 5 September.

In October 2012, Australian police applied to extradite the 66-year-old and the Christchurch District Court granted this in June.

Charges faced by Bernard McGrath include raping, molesting and abusing dozens of boys in New South Wales in the 1970s and 1980s.
