A bus driver has been taken to hospital for medical checks after trying to drive a bus the wrong way over the Auckland Harbour Bridge.
Police say the driver crossed the bridge the correct way, before stoppigng the bus on an off-ramp on the city side.
The bus then made a u-turn and started heading back over the bridge, travelling north in a south-bound lane.
Police say a truck managed to get the driver to stop and a motorway patrol reversed the bus back down the bridge.
Inspector Mark Fergus says the incident appears to have been caused by a medical event and the driver has been taken to hospital.
He says police will speak with the driver and investigate further.
