Former nurses' president suspended for compromising patient safety

The Nurses Organisation says it was never made aware a former president was under investigation while still in the role.

Nano Tunnicliffe has since been suspended for nine months by the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal for compromising the safety of 87 patients by failing to correctly document consultations.

She will also be supervised for the next three years if she returns as a nurse.

The offending occurred between April 2010 and February last year while Mrs Tunnicliffe was president of the Nurses Organisation.

A spokesperson for the organisation says it was never made aware Mrs Tunnicliffe was under investigation at the time and it's disappointed she didn't provide that information.
