An 18-year-old is due to appear in court in Christchurch on rape and abduction charges in relation to two incidents on Saturday night and Sunday morning.
The man will appear in Christchurch District Court on Monday accused of raping a female over 16 years of age, raping a girl under 12 and the abduction for sex of a girl under 12.
Detective Sergeant Jason Stewart says additional charges are likely.
The police are continuing to ask for any sightings of two vehicles believed to have been involved in the incidents.
They are a white Nissan Primera saloon in and around Pound Road and Christchurch Airport and a blue Subaru Legacy saloon in the Loburn and North Canterbury area.
