Motorists advised not to pay window washers

Police in South Auckland are asking motorists not to pay window washers who approach them at traffic lights.

Police in Counties Manukau have had more than 50 complaints about unsolicited window washers since the start of September.

They say drivers should keep their windows up, make it clear they do not want their windscreens cleaned and refuse to pay if their windows are washed without their consent.

Police say they are regularly patrolling two problem areas, the corners of Cavendish and Lambie Drives and Cavendish and Great South Road, in an effort to move the window washers along.
