Singer Shona Laing is to be inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame after more than 40 years in the music business.
Laing has been awarded The New Zealand Music Awards Legacy Award for her outstanding contribution to music.
The singer was just 17 when she first appeared on the television talent show New Faces in 1972.
She suddenly became a household name around the world with her hit song I'm Glad I'm Not a Kennedy in 1986.
Laing has gone on to record 11 albums. Singles including 1905 and Soviet Snow easily cracked the charts here and in America.
Now a mentor for rising stars, Laing says things have certainly changed since she started making music four decades ago.
The singer will officially receive her Legacy Award at the New Zealand Music Awards ceremony in November. All recipients of the award automatically enter the Music Hall of Fame.
