Briscoe Group fined over injured customer

Homewares retailer Briscoe Group has been fined after a customer was injured in one of its stores.

The company pleaded guilty to a charge of causing serious harm after a customer tripped over a carton in an aisle at a Briscoes store in Manukau in December last year.

The company was fined $75,000 and ordered to pay a further $4000 to the injured customer in addition to $5000 the customer has already received.

The Briscoe Group has refused to detail what the injuries were.
