A report on services for young victims of sexual violence has found that young people want a much more mobile, online kind of service.
The Auckland-based Sexual Abuse Help Foundation, together with the Tu Wahine Trust, spoke to 222 teenagers aged between 13 and 18.
They found a deep distrust of sexual health professionals such as school nurses and counsellors, and many respondents weren't aware of many of the services available to them.
The study also found young people would prefer to deal with younger staff based in places where young people hang out, and to have the option of online contact.
Associate Justice Minister Chester Borrows says the research confirms what organisations and services have known for a long time.
He says it will now be considered by the Government.
