Police investigating a fatal collision between a bus and a car at a busy city intersection in Hamilton are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
A 46-year-old woman who was driving the car was killed and her passenger taken to Waikato Hospital on Monday.
The death brings the official holiday road toll to five.
Police say the crash happened at a four-way intersection including Te Rapa Road and Victoria Street and controlled by traffic lights about 4.40pm.
There were a number of vehicles in the lines of traffic, as well as pedestrians and shoppers at two nearby blocks of shops who may have seen what happened, and investigators would like to speak with them.
The bus suffered damage in the collision that prevented it from stopping at the scene, but it came to a halt a short time later. No-one on it was hurt.
