Police are investigating a former teacher at a Dunedin high school after a complaint of indecent assault.
Otago Boys' High School says it has been made aware that police are investigating the historic complaint.
It says the teacher is not at the school, but it takes the matter very seriously.
The school says it has received very limited information about the nature of the complaint and is trying to get police to release information so it can carry out its own investigation.
Police confirmed on Tuesday they received the complaint, but will not give details.
