Fog lifts at Auckland airport

12:05 pm on 1 April 2014

Auckland airport has lifted fog restrictions that forced airlines to cancel or delay more than 50 flights on Tuesday morning.

The airport implemented low visibility procedures at about 8.15am and maintained the restrictions for three hours while the fog cleared in very still conditions.

The airport says 35 domestic flights were cancelled, including some main trunk flights to and from Wellington and Auckland. A further 15 were delayed, but international flights were not affected.

Police say the foggy weather did not cause any major delays on Auckland roads.
