Toddler's mother lost outside support

The mother of murdered Rotorua toddler Nia Glassie had her parole revoked because she lost her support people outside prison.

Lisa Michelle Kuka is serving a nine-year sentence for the manslaughter of the three-year-old in 2007.

Two brothers, Wiremu and Michael Curtis, were convicted of murder.

Kuka was granted parole in February this year and was due to be released in April.

However in March the Parole Board decided not to release her after receiving information from the Department of Corrections.

Initially, both parties refused to say what this was. But information released under the Official Information Act to Radio New Zealand on Tuesday shows it was because she lost her support network outside jail.
