A police officer attacked during a brawl in Auckland has been released from hospital.
Police say they were called to the Glen Innes town centre shortly after midnight on Wednesday to a report of a large number of people fighting.
They say the first officer to arrive was surrounded, then assaulted on the forecourt of the local service station.
He was knocked unconscious and received a cut to the head, but is expected to make a full recovery.
Officers are looking for witnesses to the fighting or assault.
