PM's car pelted on visit to state homes

5:00 pm on 23 April 2014

A rock, an egg and a tennis ball were thrown at Prime Minister John Key's car as he left a new state housing development in Napier on Wednesday afternoon.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged with disorderly behaviour.

About two dozen rowdy protesters waving Mana Party flags and protesting about poverty greeted Mr Key as he arrived in the suburb of Maraenui to view some newly completed state houses.

The man arrested for allegedly throwing a tennis ball has been bailed and will appear in court next week.
