Lawyers for the internet entrepreneur successfully argued in the High Court in New Zealand last week to have restraining orders lifted on $12 million worth of assets.

Mr Dotcom will get access to his New Zealand assets next Friday, unless the Crown lodges an appeal.

The United States government, which wants to extradite Mr Dotcom, had also asked the courts in Hong Kong to freeze millions of dollars worth of his business assets there.

His lawyer Ira Rothken said the New Zealand decision may provide a legal precedent for Hong Kong's High Court to follow.
