9:13 pm on 30 April 2014

Police are hunting two men after a home invasion on a Manawatu farm.

Police say the pair broke into a farm at Opiki near Palmerston North just after 6.30am on Wednesday.

Detective Sergeant Dave Thompson says a woman who was home alone, found the men in her living room.

He says the intruders, one who was armed with a knife, demanded items from the woman and then attacked her when she couldn't give them what they'd asked for.

Mr Thompson says the woman managed to fight the men off but suffered several cuts to her arms.

However he says in the tussle one of the attackers was stabbed in the stomach with a pair of scissors.

The pair fled after the incident.

The woman is described as incredibly distressed and is receiving medical treatment for her injuries.

Police are searching for the men and are appealing to them to give themselves up as it's likely one of the will need medical treatment.

The injured man is described as Pakeha with blond hair, while the other man is Maori with a tooth missing.
