A Parliamentary report has criticised Housing New Zealand for failing to adequately consult with communities on social housing redevelopment projects.
The Social Services Committee has reported back on petitions received from residents from Glen Innes in Auckland, Maraenui in Napier and Pomare in Lower Hutt.
The residents said many families felt they were being pushed out of their homes unfairly and without due consultation.
The committee's report accepted that Housing New Zealand's initial community consultation processes were inadequate.
It said the corporation has given assurances, it has learnt from its mistakes and has established better consultation processes for those projects.
The committee said it was optimistic the current redevelopment projects will improve the living conditions and the prosperity of the communities in Glen Innes, Maraenui, and Pomare.
