The trial of the two men accused of setting a man on fire and murdering him has been adjourned.

The body of 21-year-old Shalvin Prasad was found in a scrub fire in South Auckland February last year.

The trial of Bryne Permal and Shivneel Kumar was set to begin on Monday in the High Court at Auckland but Radio New Zealand has learned it has been adjourned.

Justice Lang has set a tentative date for next March.

The police summary of facts said Mr Prasad was set on fire after withdrawing $30,000 in cash from a bank in South Auckland.

The money ended up with Mr Permal and Mr Kumar, the summary said.
