Review - Lorde's sold out show at the TSB Arena in Wellington last night was the teenage New Zealand pop superstar's first visit to the city since she played her first show at the Mighty Mighty just over a year ago.

The excitement at the show was palpable as she played her hits, including Team - which won a Silver Scroll for the most played NZ song in NZ earlier in the week, Yellow Flicker Beat from the new Hunger Game Soundtrack, and of course the Grammy-winning hit Royals.

It was obviously a first concert experience for many young fans, and the crowd showed their appreciation in shrill screams at every opportunity.

During her set she also included covers such as Kanye West's Flashing Lights, Phoenix Foundation's Buffalo and Bon Iver's Heavenly Father.

Her voice was strong and direct, hitting every note head on, her breath control was particularly impressive considering the pace of her wild, contorted dance moves.

The last year of touring has clearly been a steep learning curve for her and it was a thrill to see her bring home all she learnt and refined on the world stage.
