The 60-year-old musician had his case called at the Tauranga District Court this afternoon but was not present.

He was charged with threatening to kill and cannabis and methamphetamine possession after a raid on his Tauranga waterfront home on 6 November.

Mr Rudd's lawyer, Paul Mabey, QC, entered the not guilty plea earlier and announced it in court today.

Mr Rudd also faced a more serious charge of attempting to procure a murder but that was dropped due to a lack of evidence.

The case will be in court again on 10 February for a case review hearing.

Mr Rudd is likely to face a judge alone trial next year.
