It's wrong, but we do it anyway - survey

Internet users appear to be coming clean about how willing they are to download music and videos from the internet illegally.

A UMR Research survey of 1000 New Zealanders suggests two-thirds of people think it's unacceptable, yet many admit to taking files without paying.

The company's Research Director, Gavin White, says 69% of those asked thought it was wrong to download illegally, more than half said they do it anyway.

Mr White says men are twice as likely as women to steal music and videos, and much more likely to think it's a morally acceptable thing to do.

The survey has a margin of error of +/- 3.1%.
