Haiti quake good reminder for NZ - Civil Defence

5:49 am on 18 January 2010

Civil Defence says the earthquake in Haiti is a good reminder to start stocking up on food and water in preparation for an earthquake.

The agency says Wellington is the area most at risk.

Help could take days to reach the capital because State Highways One and Two would be damaged. Assistance would have to be brought by helicopter or ship.

Civil Defence says people should stock up on food, water and medicines.
