Prince to open Supreme Court building

9:29 am on 18 January 2010

Prince William arrives in Wellington on Monday morning to open the new Supreme Court building on Lambton Quay.

He will also attend a wreathlaying ceremony at the National War Memorial.

The prince spent a relaxed day in Auckland on Sunday, visiting Eden Park, sailing on Waitemata Harbour and had a hangi at Government House.

A correspondent for a British newspaper says the days when members of the monarchy attracted huge crowds while on tour are long gone.

News of the World royal editor Robert Jobson told Summer Report the prince's relatively low-key reception here does not mean the monarchy is no longer relevant.

More than 60 media are accompanying the prince on this tour.
