New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond has been snapped up by the Kolkata Knight Riders for $US750,000.

The price - more than $NZ1 million - was the highest at the Indian Premier League player auction in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Bond's services were also sought by the Deccan Chargers, with the Knight Riders entering the bidding at $US640,000.

The other New Zealand cricketers in the auction - Lou Vincent, Grant Elliott and Nathan McCullum - missed out.

The Pakistani players were also ignored by bidders, although Pakistan is the world champion in the shortest form of the game and most of the winning team was up for auction.

West Indies all-rounder Keiron Pollard was the only other player to reach the maximum $US750,000. He goes to Mumbai.

Shane Bond told Summer Report he watched the auction live online, which he said made him slightly nervous.
