Cabinet has discussed the controversial issue of large-scale dairy farming in the Upper Waitaki region, but the Prime Minister is not revealing what position it is taking on the issue.
The Canterbury Regional Council has asked the Government to call in the matter, by having the Environment Court hear the resource consent applications for three corporate dairy operations.
Mr Key says it is a matter for Environment Minister Nick Smith, who is required to make a decision by early February.
