Singer-songwriter Ladyhawke has added another international award nomination to a growing list of successes.

The Masterton-born performer, whose real name is Pip Brown, has secured a nomination as International Female Solo Artist at the 2010 Brit Awards. The awards take place in London next month.

The four others recognised in the category are the big-name pop stars Lady Gaga, Norah Jones, Rihanna and Shakira.

Ladyhawke said it was a "really bizarre feeling" to have been nominated. "It's almost comical the category I'm in," she told Summer Report. "I couldn't possibly be more of an underdog."

Ladyhawke swept six of the top prizes at last year's New Zealand Music Awards and was crowned Australia's breakthrough artist of 2009.
