The country's thoroughbred horse-racing clubs have voted to pursue a major shake-up of the racing industry.
The clubs voted by three to one on Friday to push for a "One Racing" concept that would amalgamate horse-racing, harness racing and greyhound racing.
Thoroughbred Racing New Zealand says that such a move could save the industry up to $11 million.
Harness Racing New Zealand says, however, that within its discipline there is little support for shared governance, so the vote may not mean much.
